Promote a sustainable equipment fleet
Through careful selection, rental companies can build a sustainable equipment fleet in terms of energy and resource efficiency, end-of-life benefits, pollution prevention and control. This allows rental firms to distinguish themselves towards potential and existing customers.
Suggested actions for rental companies
- Request suppliers to provide information on their greenest and safest product option.
- Purchase a fleet that complies with emission standards.
- Demonstrate and communicate the sustainability benefits of the rental equipment.
- Provide customers with air emissions data of rental equipment.
- Label the most sustainable rental equipment.
Provide customers with safety pictograms and a technical data sheet of the machine.

Mobile solar plant
In 2015 Bredenoord launched the Mobile Solar Plant, an environmentally-friendly temporary power solution combining multiple technologies.
The plant is a 20ft-container accommodating a 150m2 field of solar panels that can be unfolded manually and be up and running within one hour. The solar panels (23 kWp) represent the main source of electricity and also load the internal Smart Power Bank. If the batteries threaten to run flat the generator kicks in and continues running on HVO biofuel made from wastestream feedstock. From source to usage biofuel saves 85% of CO2 in relation to conventional diesel. In combination with solar power up to 95% of CO2 emission can be saved.
An online monitoring portal visualises system parameters such as kWs generated from the solar panels, and the amount of fuel and CO2 saved thanks to the solar panels.
